Adventures
When I first started my Tarot Instagram page I wanted to document adventures that I was going on throughout the city. I was born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. There are so many things to do in the city and so much of it doesn’t cost a lot of money. It’s something that a lot of people don’t realize. A lot of museums and things in the city are very low cost. There are of cost suggested prices for entry, but they are just that suggested.
I had the opportunity last week to visit the Queens Museum. I went to attend an Arts Educator conference. I haven’t been out to the Queens Museum since I was a child. The museum is located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, which is also home to the Unisphere. The Unisphere was part of the World Fair in 1964. The rings around it represent early satellites. I love that you get a great view of it from inside the museum.
The museum also has a gigantic panorama of NYC. Also part of the World Fair in 1964 the panorama has needed some repairs over the years and you can now purchase an apartment in the panorama for as little as $100. Cheapest apartment in New York!
While it is important to get out in nature (and I do crave being in the woods sometimes) I also crave being out and about in the city. The pandemic has squashed some of the ways I use to get out and about but also has made some of the ways easier for me. I don’t necessarily crave crowds, but I do like seeing other people out when I am out. I just need something in the middle.
I was lucky enough to grow up with access to green spaces. I live across the street from a 4-acre park. Directly, across the street from 12 Sycamore trees (which I am highly allergic to). I also am a walk away from a park that is located by the river. So I was able to sit on grass, and meditate by the water. Access to the ocean was good too. NYC beaches don’t have the best reputation, but I was able to see and be in the ocean after an hour ride.
I hope to post more about my adventures in and around the city.
