Welcome Smoke, Ash and Embers Deck

I am so excited to have received my #smokeashandembers deck by @three_trees_tarot on IG.

My very first deck was the #CelticDragonTarot all the way back when I was 11/12. I still have it, but the cards have split, dried up, and some have disappeared? I still have the pieces that have stayed with me. I haven't read with them in years, but they still have a very special place in my heart.

I was so excited to see this deck and I just had to have it. These cards are beautiful and I have flipped through them and I love the artwork.

First, as always, are my Sun / Moon / Rising Cards.

What are the first cards you pull when you get a new deck?

After I do my first shuffle, I like to do a deck interview. I have created my own spread for it. Sometimes I use the deck interview in the guidebook, but I like to do 3-6 cards spreads.

I talk to inanimate things, which means that I often talk to my decks. I actually had a hard time taking this deck out of its box and so I coaxed it out a little and then I talked to it as I did the interview spread.

Interview Spread:

  1. Tell me about yourself: 5 of Cups
This month I received the 5 of Cups from @sincerly_the_tarot so I have been thinking about it a lot. How I relate to my own feelings and how I relate to others. To have this deck, describe itself as the 5 of Cups actually felt like a comfort. This is a deck I can go to when I am feeling melancholy and I know it will have my back.

  2. First Impression of me: Strength
This deck is so smart. I am a Leo Sun and the Strength card represents who I am to others. Most times I struggle with my Leo Sun. If you know me or have been around for a while you might know that it is in the 12 house. A 12th house Leo Sun is not exactly where it wants to me be. It also explains my extreme introvertedness. I actually have other markers as well, but people and not just this deck see me as Strength and it is a nice reminder.

  3. Readings you like doing? Seven of Wands
This deck is definitely filled with Fire Energy and it is ready for a fight and to protect. Bringing out this deck when I am feeling down it will pick me up. Using this deck, when someone needs some advocacy also will be a great move. Some people just need to hear that someone is on their side in order to move forward and this deck is ready to fill that role. I love that, especially with the symbolism of dragons. Dragons are a great source of protection and this deck is ready.

  4. What lessons can I learn from you? Two of Wands
Sometimes making plans can take a lot of effort and this deck is all about moving forward. I will comfort you and make you feel better, but there’s a lot of Fire energy in this deck. After comfort comes action and this is what this deck wants me to learn.

  5. Readings you don’t like to do? Nine of Cups Rx
Tying in with the last card, this deck doesn’t want you to sit around in your misery. You can be sad, but only for a limited time. It is not about living in your discomfort for too long. If you want it to just acknowledge your sadness you are going to need another deck.

  6. How do you think we will get along? Two of Swords
This cracked me up. As I said, I had to coax it out of its back. I was making an unboxing video, but I just could not get it out of its back on the first try. It seems like this deck is still trying to decide what it thinks about me. It said some nice things, giving me the benefit of the doubt, but it is going to take some time to get to know me a bit better. I can totally respect that. I might prefer that?
